Assistant Professor Erik Wikstrom Awarded Grant from NATA Foundation

Dr. Erik Wikstrom received a grant from NATA Research & Education Foundation.

The grant is titled “Advancing the Management and Assessment of Talar Cartilage Health (MATCH) to Mitigate PTOA Development.”

Dr. Wikstrom’s research focus is on the interactions between musculoskeletal biomechanics and sensorimotor function of the ankle following injury with particular emphasis on the coordination of dynamic balance. He and his team apply biomechanical and neurophysiologic principles to better understand the pathophysiology of ankle injuries, elucidate the mechanisms that lead to chronic ankle instability (CAI), and develop effective interventions for ankle joint pathologies.
